Thunderstorm wind gusts knocked down several trees and power lines in scattered locations in an area extending from sections of Covington to Mandeville to west of Lacombe. Several tents were blown down at a festival in Fontainebleau State Park. A tree fell on the roof of a house in Covington. Wind gusts were estimated at 60 mph.

Numerous trees and power lines along Tyler Street and nearby parallel streets between 19th Avenue and 23rd Avenue were knocked down by thunderstorm winds. Two vehicles and one residence were damaged by the falling trees. In one of the vehicles crushed by falling trees, one of the occupants was killed and another seriously injured.

My power constantly goes out. But the main hwy which is a block away never does!!! Why am I and my neighbors the first and the last to get our power restored. But all the businesses in hwy 90 alwasy powered up right away?
